Mike Sinneck Leaving Microsoft?

I heard through the grapevine that Mike Sinneck is leaving Microsoft. He joined two years ago coming from IBM Global Services to take the position of VP of Worldwide Services Organisation. It's an interesting development in that he led a huge effort to restructure and "professionalise" the Microsoft Services Organisation (MSO). It's often been joked that it should be called Microsoft Global Services since it has adopted the IBM service model hook line and sinker. Is the job done? Or is this a fallout from a change in strategy?

What I do know is that MSO isn't as happy a place to work as it used to be. Maybe things will get better now but somehow I doubt it. The focus shifted to a scalable global business model targetted at big enterprises. That's where the money is after all.

Update Dec 6th. Not much further word on why he's leaving.  Just an updated blurb on his bio to confirm he's now a former VP and some repeats of a statement that was released.

Gravatar I was a friend of Mike Sinneck over 30 years ago in NYC. I'm sure he's doing great - he was always smart and a natural leader. Your bio does not mention that Mike was an amateur astronomer and an excellent driver, especially with his Buick Special.

I hope to hear from Mike soon.

Gravatar Thanks for info. I can certainly agree that he seems a natural leader. I saw him speak at a Microsoft company conference and he really came across an eloquent and passionate guy. He seemed to fit right in with the senior management team. All the more reason why the sudden departure seemed strange.
