Hijacked by NetSearchSoft

I got infected by NetSearchSoft the other day. What a royale pain it was to get rid of it! Spybot and Ad-aware didn't do the job properly so eventually I learned about using HijackThis running under SafeMode. Very useful little program. I can't remember the exact file names so just run it and start looking for things that don't look right!

Gravatar Ditto. Tried Spybot, the cleaner, hijack this, pest patrol - no use, now unable to connect to the internet at all, just diverted to the unwanted search page - the Html file generates itself in localuser\local settings\temp folder with an exwecutable called Heart SizeShim.exe.

No reg search or file name/content search identifies it, and as no internet acsess - no update for the spy software.

Viruses are easier.

Gravatar Yeah I'm sorry I couldn't remember the exact file names when I did it. That's while I bailed on trying to describe it in my original posting. I do remember that the folder name was really odd; I've got a hunch that it doesn't use a single static name and that it changes with different infections.

I've noticed how popular this posting is so I gather there's a lot of you looking for a solution. Try reading these pages:

Gravatar My pc was infected by netsearchsoft,by going to my pop up blocker settings I was able to remove netseachsoft x2 from the allowed sites section,How they got there beats me,it seems to have stopped the unwanted pop up pages that appear every minute or so,if it persists I will take the advise of Greg & Jr (2-above) & go to the netsearchsoft website to click on remove software which according to Greg is at the bottom of the offenders home page simple & easy.Good luck. P.S. I have Mcafee security $159aud,All I got from them was the run around,They havnt got a clue about what is going on,If you call there help centre it takes anything up to 12 times of having to spell your name before they eventually get it,In one day I had called three times each time telling me they would send the solution in an e-mail twice they ignored me the third time they sent me updates for the wrong software,& pages that were not available anymore.Oh & god help you if you have a specific question to ask,You could be there a while. In a nut shell stay away from Mcafee security products the after care is almost non existent unless you speak some pidgeon dilect of the Indian Continent.
